Margaret B. Morford

Margaret was born in Lisbon on July 23, 1930, the daughter of Murray and Pearl (Brontmeyer) Barkley. She became a registered nurse and worked at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Hospital in Ogdensburg, Ray Brook Hospital, Lake Placid Hospital and the Saranac Lake General Hospital.

Margaret retired in 1972. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and baking.

Margaret married Harold Morford on June 18, 1953, at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Ogdensburg.

Margaret is survived by her daughters Katherine McCloskey of Albany and Diana (Tom) Swain of Saranac Lake; her son Harold (Susan) of Amenia; six grandchildren: Jeremy, Mathew and Sean McCloskey, Jason and Ashley Swain, and Megan Chamberlain; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Sharon Fields of Lisbon; and several nieces and nephews.

Margaret was predeceased in death by her husband Harold; her father and mother; her three brothers: William, Lawrence and John Barkley; and two sisters: Kathleen Farrell and Betty Jean Morford.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Saranac Lake, NY 12983. There will be no calling hours. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday June 1 at the funeral home with burial immediately following in Brookside Cemetery, Bloomingdale, with the Rev. Carol Williams officiating.
