Edward B. Rabideau

Edward B. Rabideau, 71, of Paul Smiths, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Plattsburgh on Dec. 10, 1946, he was the son of Bernard and Mary (Andrews) Rabideau. Ed married Myra O’Dell on June 17, 1983, in Paul Smiths.

Ed grew up in Morrisonville and had attended and graduated from Our Lady of Victory School in Plattsburgh. He worked as a security officer for Sunmount DDSO in Tupper Lake for 33 years until his retirement in 2002. Ed was a charter member of the Paul Smiths-Gabriels Volunteer Fire Department. Following his retirement he also worked part-time for the Olympic Regional Development Authority at the Olympic hockey rink in Lake Placid.

He is survived by his wife Myra: six children: Jon Rabideau of Canton, Cynthia Rabideau of Philadelphia, Kimberly Rabideau of Plattsburgh, Jason (Katie) Rabideau of Jamestown, North Carolina, Travis Rabideau of Saranac Lake and Christina (Charles) Fisk of Paul Smiths; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother and father and one brother, George Rabideau.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake on Friday, Aug. 31 from 2 to 4 p.m. A funeral service will immediately follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Patrick Ratigan officiating. A reception will follow at the Paul Smiths-Gabriels fire station. Burial will take place in Mountain View Cemetery in Gabriels at a later date.
