Murrell C. Blankenship

Murrell C. Blankenship, 82, widower of Charlotte Y. Blankenship, died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016.

Born in Bowling Green, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Aubrey and Lunie Blankenship.

He was the former owner and operator of Guarantee Pest Control for 39 years and past president of the Kentucky Pest Control Association. He was a member of Christ Centered Church, the Lexington Jaycees, Robert M. Sirkle Lodge, Oleika Shrine Temple, and the Elks Lodge in Clewiston, Florida.

He was an avid fisherman at Lake Okeechobee, Florida where he and his wife spent their winters.

Survivors are two daughters: Judy (John) Hanna and Teresa (Coy) May; a son, Gary (Lucy) Blankenship; eight grandchildren: Jennifer McCann, Chandler McCann, Nicholas May, Colin May, Kathleen May, Christopher Blankenship, Sherry (Matt) Galati and Walter (Janay) Harper; two great-grandchildren: Hunter Wytiaz and Mason Wytiaz; and three sisters: Patsy Bailey, Brenda Collins and Carolyn Hamon.

He was preceded in death by a son Alan Blankenship; two brothers: Joe and Sonny Blankenship; and a sister, Betty Lyles.

Funeral service will be held at noon Friday, Nov. 18 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home-Main St. Burial will be in Lexington Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to noon Friday, Nov. 18 and 5 to 8 tonight with a Masonic service at 6 p.m.
