Thomas J. Steves
Thomas J. Steves, 62, of Tupper Lake, died Sunday, July 5, 2015 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
Born July 13, 1952 in Fort Ann, he was the son of Kenneth and Beatrice (Chadwick) Steves.
Thomas attended school in Warrensburg and enlisted in the U.S. Army on Aug. 11, 1969. He served as a medic being discharged in 1971.
In 1972, he married the former Maxine Collins in Warrensburg.
Thomas was a truck driver, driving tractor trailer until being forced to retire for health reasons in 1988. They moved to Tupper Lake in 1998 and volunteered at Mercy Healthcare Center.
He enjoyed the annual flea market, woodworking, fishing and swimming. He mostly enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Maxine of 42 years; one daughter, Nancy Phelps and her husband Roy of Tupper Lake; one son, Joshua Steves and his wife Hiedi of Queensbury; six grandchildren: Felicia Branch and her husband Spencer, Thomas Smith of Corinth, Zachary Smith of Jay, Timothy Allen Jr. of Tupper Lake, Mackenzie Steves and Cheyenne Steves both of Queensbury; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Jerry Steves and his wife Linda of Queensbury; one sister, Rebecca Marks and her fiancee Thomas Stadola of Tampa, Florida; and a sister-in-law Patricia Steves of Warrensburg.
He was pre-deceased by his parents and one brother, Kenneth Steves.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, July 25 at the Trinity Methodist Church, 155 Ballard Road, Wilton. Burial will be in the Bates Cemetery in Johnsburg at the convenience of the family.
