Gloria Sovey
A life interrupted.
Gloria Sovey, 72, of Tupper Lake, died suddenly in her home early Saturday morning, June 20, 2015.
Gloria was a devoted wife for more than 50 years to her late husband, George Sovey. They were married on June 29, 1963, and later in life celebrated their undying love by being remarried on March 12, 1980, in the eyes of God at St. Alphonsus Church.
Gloria was well known as the owner of Lucky “8” Taxi for more than 25 years. Lucky “8” symbolized the size of her loving family. Aside from the endless committment she had for the family unit, she was empathetic to all who knew her and will be remembered for her generosity of sharing, caring wisdom and wit. The two biggest loves of her life were her canine companion, Brody, and playing bingo.
Gloria is survived by her children and their spouses and companions: Tina Genson (Ray Ogden), Mark Sovey, Korina Dreslinsky-Heiner (Linda Heiner), Jamie Sovey (Joe Duncan), Melody Jewtraw (Kevin Reed) and John Sovey. Carrying on her legacy are numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Gloria also left behind sisters Genevieve Hayes and Betty LaForest, a younger brother, Douglas Corrow (Juli Corow), and her stepchildren.
At her request, services will not be held. However, her children will welcome a celebration of life gathering at the family home at 15 Second St., Tupper Lake, from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 25 and from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, June 26.
Memorial donations may be made in Gloria’s name to St. Alphonsus Church in Tupper Lake.
