Lester LaPrade

Lester LaPrade, 67, of 235 Lake St., Saranac Lake, died Wednesday, April 22, 2015.

Born in Franklin County, Virginia, on Aug. 8, 1947, he was the son of Harry and Ruth (Campbell) LaPrade.

For several years Mr. LaPrade was employed by the state of California in the Water Reclamation Department. He later moved to Baltimore, Maryland, where he was employed as a chemical technician by Glidden Paint for five years. He retired in 1989 due to health issues. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and came to Saranac Lake in 2000 to visit family. He loved it here so much he decided to stay.

He is survived by three daughters: Angela Jock of Baltimore, Maryland, Kimberly Johnson and her husband Michael Andrews of Pasadena, Maryland, and Crystal LaPrade of Sacramento, California; one sister, Jeanette Dishno of New Richmond, Wisonsin; three brothers: Jamison LaPrade of Baltimore, Maryland, Marvin Selbey of Bullhead City, Arizona, and David Selbey of Bakersfield, California; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother Ruth (Campbell) LaPrade and one brother, Gene LaPrade.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will take place at the convenience of the family.
