Sr. Eileen Marie Chambers, R.S.M

Sr. Eileen Marie Chambers, R.S.M., 84, of Lake Placid, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014, at Uihlein Living Center in Lake Placid.

Sister was born March 27, 1930 in Winthrop, the daughter of Paul and O. Erma (Partlov) Chambers.

She graduated from East Stockholm Elementary School and St. Joseph Academy High School. Sister received a bachelor’s degree in education from Potsdam State Teachers College and a master’s degree in guidance from Plattsburgh State University.

She entered into the Sisters of Mercy in 1955, and after profession, she began her teaching career which spanned more than 45 years. Sister taught in the Diocese of Ogdensburg, the Archdiocese of New York and in New Jersey.

Sister is survived by two brothers and their wives: Gerald and Donna Chambers, and Bill and Glenda Chambers; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers: Robert, Bernard, Paul and Daniel.

Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24 with a prayer service at 8 p.m. at the Reiss Memorial Chapel in Uihlein Living Center, 185 Old Military Road, Lake Placid. The Mass of the Resurrection will be held at noon Saturday, Oct. 25 at the Reiss Memorial Chapel in Uihlein Living Center. Father Alan Shanob will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Brasher Falls.

The M.B. Clark Inc. Funeral Home in Lake Placid is in charge of arrangements.
