Charles T. Fisk

Charles Thomas Fisk, 64, of Paul Smiths, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014 at his home.

He is the youngest son of Francis Bernard and Isabel Barry Fisk.

Charles married Marie-Aymee Kathleen Murphy on Aug. 17, 1991. They had three wonderful children: Charles Francis, A1C, Patrick Mark and Aymee-Lynne Gabrielle, and two beloved cats, Shadow and Tatoo. He also has five beloved brothers and sisters: Helen (Leroy) Smith, Nancy (Joe) Smith, Francis Bernard Jr. (Beverly) Fisk, Robert (Linda) Fisk, and William Fisk.

Charles had an active life. He loved spending time with family, especially around a campfire. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Lake Placid Police Department for five years, was a second electrician and worked security at the Lake Placid Club for 11 years, and worked at the Olympic Center during the 1980 Olympics. He also worked as a driver on the Adirondack Ambulance for 27 years, which is how he met his wife, Marie-Aymee.

Charles was a charter member of the Lake Placid Volunteer Ambulance Service, a member of the Sons of the American Legion in Lake Placid and Saranac Lake, and spent about 12 years as assistant scout Master of Troop 12, Gabriels, as well as three years with the Paul Smiths-Gabriels Fire Department. He also worked as a driver for North Star Citizens Advocate in Saranac Lake for 13 years until his diagnosis of cancer forced him into early retirement.

There will be no public visitation.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27 at the Church of the Assumption in Gabriels. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Gabriels.

Contributions in Charles’ memory may be made to the Saranac Lake and Paul Smith’s fire departments, or to the American Cancer Society.
