William L. Bennett

William L. Bennett, 83, passed away on Saturday March 29, 2014, at the Mercy Living Center in Tupper Lake.

He was born in Tupper Lake on July 9, 1930, to William and Margaret (Arsenault) Bennett at the family home on Leboeuf Street. William was one of four children, all of whom predeceased him.

William attended Tupper Lake schools and on Oct. 30, 1947, enlisted in the Army. He spent the next five years stationed in both Korea and Hawaii.

Upon his return to Tupper Lake, he married Mary Bedore. They were married for 58 years until she passed away in 2010.

William followed his brother to build homes in Syracuse and subsequently moved to New York City, where he found work as a carpenter. In 1982, he founded Trois Construction Co. in Brooklyn, where he worked until his retirement. Upon his retirement he spent the summers in Tupper Lake and the winters in Marco Island, Fla. Bill was a familiar face at the Tupper Lake Golf Club, where he was a lifetime member.

He is survived by his only child, daughter Dena Rosen and son-in-law Louis of Warren, N.J.; and two grandchildren, William Rosen and Nicolle Rosen.

Calling hours are scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 30 at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 31 at St. Alphonsus Cemetery in Tupper Lake.
