Martha E. Primmer

Martha E. Primmer, 60, of Lake Flower Avenue, Saranac Lake, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Born in Saranac Lake on Sept. 28, 1953, she was the daughter of Herbert and Jeannette (VanNortwick) Shatraw.

Martha graduated from Saranac Lake High School in 1971 and gave birth to her only child in 1979. Martha worked for Parnell’s Shoe Store, Scheefer’s Jewelers and more recently at Adirondack Medical Center. She was a devout member of St. Bernard’s Parish. Martha was often seen tending to the flowers in her gardens overlooking her longtime home on Lake Flower, where she enjoyed being outdoors in the fresh air, knitting and collecting antiques. Martha will always be remembered for her smile and sense of humor.

She is survived by her daughter, Anne Warner of Saranac Lake; longtime companion Doug Warner of Saranac Lake; a brother, Stephen Shatraw of Saranac Lake; several nieces and nephews; her aunt, Doris Shatraw of Saranac Lake; and several cousins, including Joan and John McGann of Hicksville.

Calling hours will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 9 at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at noon Monday, March 10 at St. Bernard’s Church with the Rev. Mark Reilly officiating. Burial will take place in Pine Ridge Cemetery in the spring.
