Annabelle ‘Belle’ Paradis

Annabelle “Belle” Paradis, 85, of 85 County Route 18, Lake Clear, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013 at her home.

Born in Saranac Lake on Jan. 15, 1928, she was the daughter of Oliver and Anna P. (Strong) Boula. Belle married Dan Paradise in 1965 in Kirkville, N.Y. He predeceased her in 1984.

Belle was a lifelong resident of the Saranac Lake area and had been employed at the Grand Union for many years until her retirement in 2000. Prior to that she had worked for Myers Pharmacy in Saranac Lake for many years. Belle and her husband Dan were instrumental in establishing the Mountain Valley REACT. Belle loved bowling and had participated on many teams in countless leagues and tournaments. She also loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed camping with family and friends. She also really enjoyed her ceramic work.

She is survived by two daughters, Gail Corbin and her husband Bob of Lake Clear, and Sandra Brown of Saranac Lake; one son, James Brown and his wife Eve of Ray Brook; her stepdaughter, Donna Dickenson and her husband John of Oxford, Mass.; eight grandchildren: Daniel, Jason, Michele, Mike, Steve, Johnna, John and Mike; and several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, Oliver and Joe Boula, and two sisters, Rita Desourdy and Betty Amell.

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday Oct. 15, 2013, at St. Bernard’s Church, with Rev. Mark Reilly officiating. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery in Lake Clear. The Fortune-Keough Funeral Home of Saranac Lake is in charge of arrangements.
