David C. Harris

David C. Harris, 81, of Orange City, Fla. passed away on Dec. 7, 2012.

An interment in Lake Placid will take place at a later date.

In the summer of 1931, David was born in Brooklyn to Harold and Dorthia Harris. After years of hard work and dedication, he graduated college in London, England, with a degree in engineering.

David returned to the United States, where he began his career with General Electric. Throughout his time with General Electric, David worked on many exciting projects. One such project was the partnership with GE and the Apollo Program in which David was the first employee.

David was a man of many talents. He loved animals and along with his partner Jim, took great pride in raising and showing poodles. With David’s experience and love of dogs it was no surprise that he served as president of The Greater Daytona Dog Fanciers’ Association.

David will be greatly missed by all who knew him. David is preceded in death by his loving parents Harold and Dorthia. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his lifelong partner, Jim Huntington.

A graveside service will be held at North Elba Cemetery, Lake Placid, in August at the convenience of the family.

The M.B. Clark Inc. Funeral Home in Lake Placid is in charge of local arrangements.

Relatives and friends are invited to “light a candle” and share a memory and leave online condolences at www.mbclarkfuneralhome.com.
