‘Songs of the Season’ Dec. 13

SARANAC LAKE – The Library Lunch Series will present its annual holiday music program “Songs of the Season,” at noon on Thursday, Dec. 13 in the Cantwell Room of the Saranac Lake Free Library.

This year, three local groups will perform including The Rustic Riders, Slo Jam, and the Library Merry Minstrels.

The Rustic Riders will lead off the program with a medley of seasonal songs, including “Let it Snow”, and several original compositions. The duo features Lisa Meissner on vocals and guitar, and Klaus Meissner on percussion.”

Next to perform will be Slo Jam, a local band that has played at Art Walk, Paul Smith’s VIC, and most recently opened for Hobo Fest 2018. Slo Jam is an open group that practices every Tuesday evening at the Library from 5:30 to 8 p.m., and welcomes musicians of all levels. They will do a variety of holiday favorites, including “O Christmas Tree” and “Silent Night.” Performers include Barb Curtis on vocals and bass; Emily Warner on violin, guitar and vocals; Ginger Slater on ukulele, tambourine and vocals; Pete Benson on guitar and vocals; Dave Filsinger on mandolin, cello and vocals; and Tom Techman on vocals.

Rounding out the program, and also making their debut, will be the Library Merry Minstrels, a group of talented individuals who also happen to be on staff at the Saranac Lake Free Library. Peggy Orman, Jenny Curtis and Michelle Tucker will lead a sing-along of traditional holiday favorites, accompanied by Library Director Peter Benson on guitar.

This and all presentations of the Library Luncheon series are free and open to the public.

People are encouraged to bring soup or a sandwich and enjoy a dessert and beverage provided by the Refreshment Committee.
