Sandra Hildreth at library lunch April 21

Artist Sandra Hildreth will present “Plein Air Painting and Wildlife Encounters” at noon April 21, in the Cantwell Community Room at the Saranac Lake Free Library.

This will be the final Library Lunch Series program of the season.

Hildreth, a retired high school art teacher, taught 31 years at a small rural school district in St Lawrence County before moving in 2004 to Saranac Lake where she in an active member of the arts community and enjoys hiking, paddling and skiing with her friends. She has also led trips for the Adirondack Mountain Club to Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks.

She was a seven-year member of the Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Adirondack Artists Guild and a founding member of Saranac Lake ArtWorks. Her work is exhibited extensively, both regionally and nationwide. She has been, and still is, active in the development of Saranac Lake as an Arts destination, exemplified by her founding Saranac Lake’s annual Plein Air Festival.

Hildreth recently produced a body of new work that includes wildlife. Learn about the experiences that led to these paintings, as well as the differences and similarities of plein air and in-studio paintings.

Those attending are encouraged to bring soup or a sandwich, and enjoy a dessert and beverage provided by the Refreshment Committee.
