Cabin Fever Dinner March 8 to benefit TLCIL

The Cabin Fever Tri-Lakes Center for Independent Living Dinner will be held at 4:30 p.m. March 8 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Saranac Lake.

The Tri-Lakes Center for Independent Living is gearing up for its first fundraiser of the year, a gourmet dinner hosted by Yvona Fast and based on recipes from her new cookbook, “Garden Gourmet: Fresh & Fabulous Meals from your Garden, CSA or Farmers’ Market.”

The author will be available to sign copies of the book, and 20 percent of the sale price will go to support the Center.

The healthy dinner features something for everyone: carrot yogurt soup, beet and greens salad, choice of sausage and rice or baked colcannon casserole, apple crisp & ice cream for dessert. Many menu items are gluten-free, vegetarian and diabetic-friendly.

Many products featured are from the region’s farms. TLCIL thanks the local farmers and business people who support our effort.

Cost is $10 or $7 for children under 12.

The Tri-Lakes Center for Independent Living is an important community resource. It offers information, referral, and advocacy to assist residents with disabilities in community integration and independence.

In 2013, the center served more than 120 people and provided more than 500 services such as accessibility consultations, benefits advisement and independent living skills training.
