Saranac Lake Art & Science series returns Thursday
SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake Art & Science Series is set to return to Hotel Saranac this spring, offering engaging community gatherings during the region’s mud season. Events will take place on the third Thursday of March, April and May, bringing together artists, scientists and the public for evenings of creativity, discovery and connection.
Each evening begins with an indoor ArtWalk from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the Hotel Saranac lobby. Doors open for the show at 6:30 p.m. in the Oak Room on the second floor of the hotel, and tickets can be purchased in advance at twolined.com/art or by visting the Twolined Studio Eventbrite page.
The first event in the series will be held on Thursday, March 19. The show begins with a “Big Night Migration” multimedia presentation by naturalist Charlie Reinertsen, followed by interviews with Danielle Boyea and Saikat Chakraborty on the topic of “The Sound of Molecules,” concluding with an interview with Echo Only (creator of The Station) on the topic of using confusion and curiosity as artistic tools. Interviews will be followed by a performance from Slough Creek in the Great Hall Bar to conclude the evening.
The April 16 event is featuring the Hilary Hawke Band, and will include free swing dance lessons. Festivities begin at 5 p.m. with an indoor ArtWalk in the lobby at Hotel Saranac. A swing dance lesson starts at 5:30 p.m. in the Hotel Saranac Ballroom, open to all members of the public. At 6:30 p.m., attendees can enjoy an ecology presentation by naturalist Charlie Reinertsen, followed by an interview with the Hilary Hawke Band exploring the art of improvisation in traditional music. The evening will conclude with a ticketed concert in the ballroom with the Hilary Hawke Band, where guests will try out their new swing dance skills on the dance floor.
The Saranac Lake Art & Science Series continues to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and community engagement, creating a welcoming space where art and science intersect.
