TUPPER LAKE — People dressed as traffic cones, charcuterie boards, dalmatians and video game characters skied, snowshoed and slid around the 11th annual Tupper Lake BrewSki on Saturday.
The event brought more than 1,500 people from all around North America out onto the trails of the James C. Frenette Recreational Trails near the Tupper Lake Golf Club to sample beers from 17 brewers.
Town Recreation Director Laura LaBarge said people traveled from as far as San Diego for the event, which sold out of its 1,368 tickets.
This year had a “Costume Contest” theme, so many groups came in creative attire. One woman knit a green hat to look like Link from “The Legend of Zelda,” another wore half of a beer pong table and a group had “USA Drinking Team” shirts.
LaBarge’s dad, Bill Cote, reached out to breweries from around the state for this year’s lineup, and she said he brought in some newcomers. She also said that breweries were reaching out to the town to get a slot on the trail.

LaBarge said an issue of people selling scam resale tickets led to increased validation efforts and an admission line that took around 45 minutes longer than usual. She said they’ll be making some updates next year and use QR codes for tickets.
During the Lions Club’s annual Fire and Ice Golf Tournament at the golf course, the trio of Pam Edwards, Scott Edwards and Spencer Lanthier — playing under the name “The Edwards and the Ringer” — placed first. There were five teams of three golfers each.
Larry Callaghan, Bauer Callaghan and Ashton Clark came in second.
Scott, a Lions Club member, said the Lions Club had a good year of fundraising between the golf tournament, the $2,740 50/50 raffle and the burger and hot dog trailer. As always, Scott said the Lion’s Club’s caramelized onions were a big hit.
Next year’s BrewSki is scheduled for Feb. 27. Tickets go on sale Nov. 27.
