Tupper Lake man charged with attempted murder

Allegedly intentionally hit man with truck, fled

TUPPER LAKE — State Police have charged a Tupper Lake man with attempted murder after he allegedly hit another man with his pickup truck.

Matthew Patnode, 46, of Tupper Lake, was charged with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, all felonies.

On Feb. 11, New York State Police responded to 2 Lindsay Ave. for a reported intentional hit and run involving a pedestrian at approximately 7:50 p.m.

The weapon in the third-degree criminal possession charge was the truck itself.

State Police spokeswoman Brandi Ashley said the victim — Eric Snyder, 37, of Tupper Lake — was transported to Adirondack Medical Center and later transferred to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington for further treatment. Police said he was treated and released.

Ashley said the vehicle used in the alleged incident was a 2021 Dodge pickup truck, which was later located abandoned in a parking lot in Tupper Lake.

According to Ashley, Patnode was arraigned in the Malone Town Court before Judge June Fisher and remanded to Franklin County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail.

Sgt. Alan Cooley from the county jail said Patnode has since been released on bail.

Ashley said the Tupper Lake Police Department assisted NYSP with this investigation.
