Adirondack Health Foundation to host rural health symposium
SARANAC LAKE — The Adirondack Health Foundation will host a rural health symposium titled “Navigating Change: The state of rural healthcare in an uncertain era” on Friday, March 20 beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Leaders from healthcare, education and public health will convene to engage in a timely and thoughtful discussion on the evolving landscape of rural healthcare. The program is designed to foster open dialogue and share information around the pressures facing rural health systems and the collaborative approaches needed to sustain high-quality care in changing times.
The event is part of a month-long celebration marking the founding of Adirondack Health in March 1913, when members of the local community came together to establish a hospital to serve residents of the Adirondack region. More than a century later, Adirondack Health continues to be guided by that same community-driven mission.
“Our hospital was founded by the community, for the community, more than 113 years ago,” Adirondack Health Foundation Executive Director Jen Balog said. “Providing opportunities for open conversation and shared understanding about healthcare today is one way we honor that legacy. This symposium reflects our commitment to keeping the community informed and engaged as we navigate change together — just as those early founders did in 1913.”
The discussion will be moderated by Kevin Kerwin, president and chief executive officer of the Iroquois Healthcare Association. Panelists will include Adirondack Health President and Chief Executive Officer Aaron Kramer; Adirondack Health Hospitalist Program Medical Director Dr. Amy Corliss; North Country Community College President Joe Keegan and Hannah Busman, MPH, public health director for Franklin County Public Health Services. Together, the panel will offer diverse perspectives informed by clinical practice, healthcare leadership, education and public health.
Attendance at this free Rural Health Symposium is limited. Community members interested in attending are encouraged to reserve a seat by calling the Adirondack Health Foundation office at 518-897-2370 or by emailing foundation@adirondackhealth.org.
