SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake Winter Carnival Committee is inviting residents to participate in the 2026 Frozen Suncatcher Contest, a celebration of creativity, winter and nature, organized by Mountain Lake Services.

Frozen suncatchers are works of wintry art featuring biodegradable components, such as plants, dried flowers, fruits and berries, seeds, natural coloring and anything else that won’t create unsightly litter once the suncatcher inevitably melts, suspended within ice. Plastics, glass, paper or any other item that could be considered trash once it hits the ground will not be accepted as suncatcher components and any entries featuring such items will be disqualified.

Participants are required to register their entries in advance. Anyone interested in participating in the contest should email epray@mountainlakeservices.org or bpray@mountainlakeservices.org for further details.

All registered participants can drop off their entries at the Lakeview Deli parking area between noon and 3 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 5.

Participants are asked to use a 9-inch or 12-inch bundt or cake pan as the form for their Suncatcher due to space limitations and hanging weight when displayed. All suncatchers must feature a hole through which a zip-tie will be threaded for proper display during the contest.
