SARANAC LAKE — NorthWind Fine Arts Gallery will host an opening reception for member Diane Leifheit’s February exhibit, “The Nature of Snow,” during the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival on Feb. 6

Leifheit joined NorthWind in August. Her work in pastel has been part of the North Country art scene since 2002. The new works represent explorations in pastel and show the flow of process from sketch book-to-color study-to-final piece.

“I have said I don’t paint plein air in winter, but the snow formations beckoned me,” Leifheit said in a press release. “Pulling off the transition from outdoors to studio required me to adjust my usual M.O.”
