Forest rangers with the state Department of Environmental Conservation responded to a pair of rescues in the southeastern Adirondacks, both of which involved trips to the hospital. In one instance, a hiker suffered from chest pains, and the other was the result of a fall on ice.
It did not appear that the hiker who fell had proper traction for the icy conditions, but was given such by the rangers to make it down the rest of the way before the medical transport ensued.
Rangers also recovered a deceased 71-year-old hunter who was reported missing in Rensselaer County.
