Tupper official charged with forgery

Police chief: Allegations don’t pertain to town business

TUPPER LAKE — Village police charged Jessica A. Eggsware, 32, of Tupper Lake with second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, a felony, and second-degree offering a false instrument for filing, a misdemeanor, on Tuesday. Eggsware is the town of Tupper Lake’s assessor and planner. Tupper Lake Police Chief Eric Proulx said these allegations don’t pertain to actions taken as part of the defendant’s position with the town.

“I can say, just to alleviate confusion in the community, it has nothing to do with her employment with the town of Tupper Lake,” Proulx said. “It had something to do with her and a family member.”

Proulx did not release details on the alleged forged instrument, citing another ongoing investigation with a separate agency. He said the alleged conduct took place during July 2024, and the Tupper Lake Police Department initiated its investigation in November 2024. The department received assistance in the investigation from the FBI.

“We used their forensic investigation unit to process some evidence that we needed processed,” Proulx said.

The defendant was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Tupper Lake Village Court for arraignment at a later date.

Starting at $4.75/week.
