NCCC organizes care package drive, raffle to support veterans

MALONE — With Veterans Day right around the corner, North Country Community College is encouraging local residents to contribute to a pair of initiatives the college has launched to support veterans.

NCCC is partnering with Paul Smith’s College to organize a Care Package Donation Drive for veterans, which started Wednesday and continues through Friday, Nov. 10.

Items being accepted for care packages include magazines and pocket-sized mini games, powdered flavor additives, toiletries, protein bars, hard candies, canned meats, instant coffee, Darn Tough socks, and patriotic-themed decorations. Cards and notes thanking veterans for their service are also being collected as part of the drive.

Drop-off locations for donations and cards are as follows:

— NCCC Malone: Campus Bookstore

— NCCC Ticonderoga: Reception

— NCCC Saranac Lake: Hodson Hall Room 125 and the Learning Assistance Center (LAC) in McCormick Hall

— Paul Smith’s College: DEI Lounge

In addition to the donation drive, NCCC is selling tickets for two prize baskets.

One of the baskets includes a pair of tickets to the Army Black Knights football team’s Nov. 18 home game against Coastal Carolina. The other includes two tickets to see an Air Force-Army hockey match on Jan. 19 at West Point.

Tickets for the raffle are $5 each or three for $10 and can be purchased in the bookstore on the college’s Malone campus or by emailing kduffey@nccc.edu.

The drawing will be on Nov. 10.

Proceeds from the raffle will benefit Homeward Bound Adirondacks.

Starting at $3.92/week.
