SARANAC LAKE — Artists & Revolutionaries (A&R), an eco-conscious fashion label based in Elizabethtown, has announced its collaboration with painter Georgeanne Gaffney’s 8 Academy, a boutique and art studio in Saranac Lake.

This partnership brings together minimalist, size-free clothing by A&R’s John-Michael Schlotter with Gaffney’s fine art paintings, as well as curated vintage goods and locally made furniture, artisan lighting, jewelry and pottery.

A&R’s fashion philosophy centers around size-free clothing using natural fibers such as linen, silk, cotton, cashmere and velvet, all pre-washed and washable, resulting in a zero-waste production process. Each article of clothing is hand-crafted in small batches, ensuring uniqueness.

“Our collaboration brings together the harmony of sustainable fashion and captivating artistry, fostering a space where every person can feel comfortable, confident, and beautiful in their own unique way,” Gaffney said in a news release.

The collaboration was born out of a shared passion for aesthetics and a desire to empower people of all sizes to feel great about their bodies. As a result, Gaffney moved her studio to the back room of 8 Academy and transformed the front space into a “lifestyle boutique,” showcasing not only A&R’s independent clothing line but also artisan furniture by Peter Hewes, lighting by Weathered Wood, pottery by ClayWoodStone, and silver and copper jewelry by Toos Evans, as well as Gaffney’s own landscape and figurative paintings.

The boutique at 8 Academy St., across from the Hotel Saranac, officially opened its doors in June. Its regular hours are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays. Gaffney also participates in the Third Thursday Art Walks and First Friday events.
