Tupper Lake woman remains in critical condition after UTV crash

A Tupper Lake woman who was transported to a Burlington hospital this past Saturday after a UTV crash remained in critical condition on Friday, New York State Police said.

Rachel L. Laflair, 38, of Tupper Lake, was driving an unmarked, blue 2022 Polaris RZR near Pitchfork Pond Road at 9:45 p.m. this past Saturday with 47-year-old Nikki Mondat as a passenger. Laflair lost control of the vehicle and hit an embankment, causing the UTV to roll on its side and eject Laflair and Mondat, according to State Police.

“This is still an ongoing investigation,” State Police Troop B Public Information Officer Brandi Ashley said Friday. “There is no new information regarding this incident.”

After the crash, Laflair was transported to UVM Medical Center in Burlington, Vermont. Mondat was transported to Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake with chest injuries and hip pain.
