Construction crews with Pratt Excavating begin demolition of the former Desperados Restaurant on Saranac Avenue in Lake Placid Wednesday. The leveled restaurant will be the site of a new Stewart’s Shops convenience store and district office. The existing convenience store will remain open during construction and will be demolished once the new shop is open. Construction crews said on Wednesday that they expected to complete demolition on Wednesday and haul the rubble away from the site on Thursday.
