TUPPER LAKE — Olivia Ellis is the valedictorian of the Tupper Lake Middle-High School Class of 2023, and Meika Nadeau is the salutatorian.

Olivia Ellis is the daughter of Heidi and John Ellis. She has been greatly involved in school activities ever since entering the middle-high school, having participated in multiple varsity sports including soccer, basketball and both indoor and outdoor track. She has held captain positions in all these sports and has received both a league MVP award and multiple First Team All-Northerns for indoor and outdoor track and field. On top of this, she is the president of Tupper Lake’s Music Department, co-president of the Green Team and treasurer for both the senior class and National Honor Society. Throughout high school she has attended many conferences and summits such as the HOBY Leadership Conference, the Section X Sports Leadership Conference, the Columbia University Climate Summit and the Wild Center’s Youth Climate Summit. After graduation she will continue to pursue her love of the environment by attending the University of New England to study marine affairs and later become an environmental lawyer.

Meika Nadeau is the daughter of Richard and Lynn Nadeau of Tupper Lake. Throughout her high school career she has been an active member of the community while also staying involved in athletics and pushing herself academically. She is a member of the National Honor Society while also playing varsity soccer and running indoor and outdoor track and field. She also participates in the Green Team, the Red and Black Players, band, chorus and weightlifting, and has held many leadership roles throughout the participation of her extracurriculars. Nadeau has received many awards throughout the years, most recently being the recipient of the Augsbury-North Country scholarship. In the fall, she plans to attend St. Lawrence University to study biology.
