Saranac Lake Community Resource Day, job fair slated May 11

SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and Saranac Lake Central School District are co-hosting the second annual Community Resource Day and Job Fair at Riverside Park in Saranac Lake on Thursday, May 11 from 2 to 6 p.m.

More than 60 businesses and organizations will be in attendance to showcase their current job openings and resources.

A variety of industries looking to hire will be represented including retail, hospitality, construction, human services, and summer camps. Businesses are hiring for part-time, full-time and seasonal positions.

“It’s important to showcase the opportunities our businesses offer to both students and residents in the Tri-Lakes area; hiring and finding staff can be a challenge, and this provides a free opportunity for both businesses and potential candidates to attend and connect,” said Rachel Karp, executive director Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce.

Community resource organizations will be providing information about what they offer including health insurance programs, mental health services, peer support, youth services, family services, mentoring programs and more. The Saranac Lake Central School will have representatives on site to help students 14 years and older with their working papers, and will also have information about school programs and open positions.

“This community event is unique in that it caters to the needs of those entering the workforce for the first time and those looking to expand their resume. Adding the support of community agencies and organizations sweetens the pot for all community members; there is truly something for everyone. We hope you can stop by and learn more about what we have right here in our own backyard,” said Erika Bezio, Community School liaison with the Saranac Lake Central School District.

“By working together for this event, we are able to connect and reach a larger audience to ensure that the event is beneficial to our businesses, community organizations, residents and students,” Karp added. “We are excited to be working with the Saranac Lake Central School again this year and to be bringing our community together.”

All residents, all ages, are encouraged to stop by and see the opportunities and resources the Saranac Lake area has to offer. For additional information or questions, call 518-891-1990.
