LAKE PLACID — State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli visited Lake Placid on Tuesday to take a look at the construction being done on Main Street and tour some state Olympic Regional Development Authority venues.

Village Mayor Art Devlin walked DiNapoli down Main Street, past construction crews that were busy moving loads of paving materials and working on underground infrastructure. Devlin pointed out different features of the Main Street construction project, like the bioretention basins and permeable parking lot surfaces.

DiNapoli asked Devlin if everyone in the community “put up” with the construction. Devlin said there’s never a good time to do construction on Main Street, though he applauded construction crews for getting the work done efficiently ahead of the 2023 FISU World University Games.

DiNapoli also visited the Olympic Jumping Complex and Mount Van Hoevenberg, according to ORDA Director of Communications Darcy Norfolk.

DiNapoli mentioned that he’s been to Lake Placid before, and as he walked down Main Street on Tuesday he pointed out some local spots he’s visited, like The Breakfast Club, Etc.

“I love this bakery!” DiNapoli sang as he walked past Bluesberry Bakery.

DiNapoli made a point of stopping in Bookstore Plus, too, sharing a quick chat with store co-owner and village Trustee Marc Galvin before purchasing a pack of loon notecards.
