Queen Anne’s Lace is seen near the banks of Lake Colby on Aug. 7. As the story goes, Queen Anne, wife of King James, I was challenged to create lace as delicate as a flower. While attempting this tasks she pricked her finger. It is said (on Teleflora, among other places) the reddish purple flower in the center of Queen Anne's Lace represents a drop of her blood.
