An open-air art market replaces Art Walks
SARANAC LAKE — In an effort to fill the gap left by the cancellation of Third Thursday Art Walks, which was cancelled like so many things due to the pandemic, Saranac Lake ArtWorks and the Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce have come up with a solution — an open-air art market.
On Saturday, Sept. 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Riverfront Park, approximately 20 artists, artisans and writers will gather together with safe socially distanced protocols to showcase their work in what’s being called ArtWorks ArtMarket. (The rain date is Sunday, Sept. 27.) Among the participants are area writers George Bryjak, Lorraine Duval, Yvona Fast and Caperton Tissot. Visual artists will include Ann Haskell, Marie Cogar, Sandra Hildreth, Deborah Geurtze, Susan Whiteman and many more.
The Saranac Lake Area Chamber and Saranac Lake ArtWorks worked together last year on Third Thursday ArtWalks and are happy to have the opportunity to come together again to bring the art market to the community.
“The chamber recognizes the importance of having and sustaining a vibrant arts scene to aid in community and economic development,” Patrick Murphy, director of the Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, said in a statement. “Supporting the arts is as important now as it ever was.”
