Gap Outlet closing?

No one will say, but store is being advertised for lease

LAKE PLACID — The future is questionable for Gap Outlet, a Main Street mainstay for more than 20 years.

The three-floor, 10,000-square-foot building at 2457 Main St. is listed as being up for lease come February on the website of Merrill L. Thomas, a local real estate company.

The listing agent for the property, Mark Adler, declined to confirm or deny whether the Gap Outlet was closing and declined to offer details beyond what was publicly available on the company’s website.

The manager of the Lake Placid store referred questions to Gap’s corporate offices, which asked the Enterprise to hold off on reporting the news and did not give any other information or comment.

The building features three floors with stair and elevator access, according to the real estate listing. There is space for stock rooms, fitting rooms, bathrooms and retail.

A long-term lease is available at $30 per square foot, according to the listing, and includes “43 feet of water frontage on Mirror Lake with beautiful lake and mountain views in the rear.”

“Great location for a national retail tenant,” the listing says.
