SARANAC LAKE — The man who crashed his car on Route 3 Thursday was Aaron M. Caiazza, 45, of Vermontville, according to state Police Troop B Public Information Officer Jennifer Fleishman.

Caiazza and his wife Kelly Cerialo run Kate Mountain Farm in Vermontville.

In the midst of an allergic reaction, Caiazza was driving past Trudeau Sand and Gravel Inc. in a white Dodge Ram pickup truck at 5:09 p.m. when he crossed the lane, struck the guardrail and went down a 100-foot embankment near the Saranac River, according to State Police Ray Brook Station Commander Sgt. Michael Tromblee.

Tromblee said Caiazza was semi-conscious at the scene, suffered no injuries from the crash and was able to walk after emergency medical services administered an antihistamine. Caiazza was transported to the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake for further evaluation.

Traffic on Route 3 was shut down until 7:20 p.m., Tromblee said.
