Longtime Cascade Inn owners take it back after deal to sell falls through

LAKE PLACID — The Cascade Inn and Restaurant has reopened.

The Warren family, the previous proprietors of Lake Placid’s Cascade Inn and Restaurant, took back the 31-year-old business this month and have slowly begun welcoming customers back. The motel and restaurant was temporarily closed earlier this year after the owners announced it would be sold.

That deal fell through, and the family took back the business around two weeks ago, according to co-owner Lorraine Warren.

“We’ve had a few bumps in the road,” she said. “But we’re still here.”

She said the family had planned a grand reopening, but shortly after they returned, the word got out and customers came knocking.

“I told my son Joseph, ‘Alright, I guess you can’t turn them away,'” she said.

Work is underway to rebuild the interior of the restaurant, which was in the early stages of a remodel before the family took the building back.

Much of the previous staff will return, according to Lorraine. Joseph Warren will man the kitchen, and Tommy Moore, the former bartender, is coming back to a newly rebuilt bar.

The Warren family, originally hailing from Long Island, purchased the business from Alan Patterson in 1988 and ran it until April of this year.

“We wanted to become a part of the community, and I think we accomplished that,” Lorraine said.

The Cascade Inn and Restaurant, 5023 Cascade Road, will be open seven days a week: 5 to 9 p.m. on weekdays and 5 to 10 p.m. on weekends. The restaurant serves classic American fare.
