Two charged with neglecting dogs
NEWCOMB — Essex County sheriff’s deputies charged two Newcomb women with animal cruelty, a misdemeanor, on Thursday.
The charges against Beth Draeger, 45, and Tiffany Orth, 21, were the result of an investigation by the Essex County Sheriffs Office and the New York State Police, after an anonymous tip was given to the Essex County Animal Cruelty Hotline.
Two large-breed dogs were transported from the residence to the North Country SPCA in Westport. Police say both dogs were severely emaciated due to lack of proper care. Once recovered and in good health, the dogs will be available for adoption.
Draeger and Orth were issued appearance tickets to appear in Newcomb Town Court on March 18.
