TUPPER LAKE — The Row, Tupper Lake’s only firsthand clothing store, is moving to a new location on Park Street, joining several other local businesses bringing life back to the main drag’s storefronts.

Emilee Davis, who opened the women’s boutique clothing store at its original location on Demars Boulevard in May 2018, said she was “recruited” by several people to move her business to Park Street.

“I think, honestly, I probably like this space more,” Davis said. “We were probably always meant to be here. We really didn’t fit in down there. It’s corporations, not little small businesses.”

On Park Street her business is surrounded by other Tupper Lakers’ shops, several of which have moved in recently. In the past few months, Birch Boys tea, owned by Tupper Laker Garrett Kopp, has started operating out of the Ginsburg Building, which it will share with the Adirondack Store. Tupper Arts, founded last year, has been doing showings in its gallery and arts lessons in its educational center. The Lake FM radio station began operating out of a Park Street storefront last fall. Spruce and Hemlock and Stacked Graphics are moving into a joint building.

Davis’ husband, Steven, is a contractor and is moonlighting to refurbish the store, restoring the floor, painting the walls and installing the fixtures.

Davis closed her former location in February, but people can still shop a partial inventory through a Facebook group on her page. She said she plans to re-open around the end of March.

She also said she hopes to eventually expand her inventory to include men’s clothing too.
