SARANAC LAKE — St. Joseph’s Addiction Treatment & Recovery Centers was recognized by the Society for Human Resources Management as one of the best companies to work for in the state for 2019.

At Monday’s village Board of Trustees meeting, Mayor Clyde Rabideau presented St. Joe’s Chief Talent Officer Katie Kirkpatrick and CEO Bob Ross with a proclamation.

“The village Board of Trustees does hereby commend St. Joseph’s Addiction Treatment and Recovery Center, its management and its employees for their tremendous achievements,” Rabideau said.

This is the seventh time the nonprofit has been selected since the survey began in 2007. St. Joe’s employs 240 people, an annual budget of around $15 million, and the organization estimates that it generates $30 million in positive economic impact to the local economy.

“Number seven to me means we’ve sustained, we’ve gotten better, we listened,” Kirkpatrick said. “It’s that day to day keeping our staff, retaining our employees, recruiting new ones.”

The organization was founded in 1971 and provides drug and alcohol addiction treatment to around 400 people per year at its inpatient and veteran’s facilities in Saranac Lake. It receives around 1,000 clients each year through eight outpatient sites in Franklin County, Essex County and St. Lawrence County. It serves around 130 adolescents annually at its Rose Hill campus in Massena.
