Lake Placid emergency room opens at new location
LAKE PLACID — The hospital emergency department in this village is now in a new location as of Tuesday morning, Jan. 22, according to Adirondack Health officials.
Adirondack Health Communications Director Matt Scollin said hospital staff at Adirondack Medical Center-Lake Placid — the old Placid Memorial Hospital — on Church Street closed that building’s emergency department doors for the last time at 11 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, moved equipment overnight to the Lake Placid Health and Medical Fitness Center at 203 Old Military Road, and opened the new emergency department doors for the first time at the new location at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
The Lake Placid Health and Medical Fitness Center includes the emergency department, radiology department, medical clinic, a swimming pool, physical therapy space, a fitness center and rented space for the Lake Placid Sports Medicine private practice. The building is opening in stages. Last week, the physical therapy department began accepting patients. The fitness center and pool are set to open to paying members this week.
Emergency room hours are 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
