SARANAC LAKE — Former Saranac Lake police chief Bruce Nason was promoted to chief of the Bristol Police Department in Vermont on Monday.
Nason retired from the Saranac Lake Police Department in late 2014 to move to Vermont, where his wife’s family is from. He had served as Saranac Lake’s police chief since 2008 and had worked in village law enforcement since 1994 for more than two decades in total.
Nason has since worked for the Bristol Police Department for nearly two years, being promoted to police chief from the rank of lieutenant. According to Bristol town officials, Nason will likely take over his new post by the end of the month.
Bristol is smaller than Saranac Lake. The town in west-central Vermont had 3,894 people in the 2010 census, and its main settlement, Bristol, had 2,030.
