SARANAC LAKE — The Aldi supermarket on Lake Flower Avenue will close Sept. 23, and the new building will open on Nov. 15.

This information was confirmed by the store manager there named Zach, who preferred not to give his last name.

The Enterprise reached out the Aldi U.S. corporate headquarters in Batavia, Illinois to ask for more information, such as how many employees currently work at the Lake Flower Avenue location and what those employees will do in the interim, but officials had not responded by the time of this publication.

The new building, which is at this point is a metal frame, will be only a few feet away from the current one.

At a village Development Board meeting in February, Kurt Charland of Bergman & Associates civil engineers, which is working for Aldi on the project, said, “We kind of wanted to keep the existing building open as long as possible.”

The plan, as explained by Kibling, is to build the new Aldi next to the current one, so that for a short time the new building can share the mechanicals and one wall. At that time, he estimated the time off for employees was about three weeks.

Starting at $3.92/week.
