Car crashes into house, leads to meth bust
STAR LAKE — A woman crashed her car into a house early Wednesday morning and was found to be possessing ingredients used for cooking methamphetamine, according to State Police.
Police responded to a residence on Oswegatchie Trail Road in the town of Fine for a report of a car striking a house at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday. Their investigation determined that Darlene C. Cole, 55, of Star Lake lost control of her 2005 Ford 500 and struck an unoccupied vehicle that was parked at the residence, and then crashed into the residence itself.
Cole was found in possession of a small quantity of marijuana and a quantity of pills, identified as clonazepam, as well as several items used in manufacturing methamphetamine. She was transported to Clifton-Fine Hospital for an evaluation.
Cole was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine in the third degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, and unlawful possession of marijuana. Cole was further ticketed for aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree, speed not reasonable and prudent, unsafe tires and uninspected motor vehicle. She was arraigned at the town of Clifton court where she was released under the supervision of probation.
The crash remains under investigation.
