Island Chapel on Upper Saranac Lake opens summer season
UPPER SARANAC – Island Chapel begins its summer worship season Sunday, June 24 at 11 a.m. at the south end of Upper Saranac Lake.
Boat transportation is offered every Sunday morning, as the Chapel Bound pontoon boat leaves from the end of Old Dock Road off state Route 3. The first boat leaves at 10:15 a.m. and again at 10:35 a.m. Worshipers can arrive in their own boat as well. The boat driver simply drops their passengers off at the chapel dock and then anchors off shore. A shuttle transports the driver back to the dock for the 11 a.m. service.
Island Chapel is a Christian interdenominational church, offering a worshipful atmosphere throughout the summer. Inspirational speakers conduct the worship service.
Each Sunday members of the congregation are invited to sing in an impromptu choir.
Worshipping at the chapel has been a unique summer experience since the mid-1800s.
