LAKE PLACID — Firefighters extinguished a chimney fire early Saturday morning at the Mirror Lake Inn.

Four trucks and 19 members of the department responded to the high-end resort at 77 Mirror Lake Drive at 2:46 a.m. Saturday. They dropped chains and dry chemicals from the hotel’s roof to extinguish the fire. Firefighters also cleared smoke from the building before they returned to service at 4:30 a.m. Firefighters said aside from the interior of the chimney, the hotel suffered no damage and no one was injured.

This is the second chimney fire at the Mirror Lake Inn in the past nine months after Lake Placid firefighters extinguished another morning chimney fire in January when a chimney located in an annex to the resort’s lobby ignited. Thirty firefighters responded to that January incident, when dry chemicals and chains were also dropped from the roof to extinguish flames.
