Carpenter Foundation offers grant money to the elderly, sick

SARANAC LAKE — The Frances L. Carpenter Foundation announced Friday that it is now accepting grant money applications for the 2017-18 year.

Applicants must be elderly and in need, or worthy persons with sickness and distress. They must reside or operate in Franklin, Essex or Clinton County.

The foundation was established by Frances L. Carpenter prior to her death in 1942. Its purpose is to help people in Clinton, Essex and Franklin counties “who are poor through no fault of their own” and to provide assistance to qualified people who are sick or in distress.

Grant application forms are available from the Frances L. Carpenter Foundation, c/o Nicastro & Cantwell, 163 Olive St., P.O. Box 508, Saranac Lake, NY 12983.

Completed applications must be submitted no later than Aug. 18, 2017.

The directors of the Carpenter Foundation are William W. Cantwell, Frances Shepard, Henry Jakobe, Ken Hunt, Alyse Holstein, Ann E. Cantwell and Edmond A. Cantwell.
