Saranac Lake rally supports Sen. Warren

Voters for Change and Now What? sponsored a rally Thursday on the sidewalk on Lake Flower Avenue near Riverside Park in Saranac Lake in support of Sen. Elizabeth Warren. Warren was censored by the Senate for starting to read a letter by Coretta Scott King, written in 1986 asking that Jeff Sessions not be nominated for federal judge because of his keeping black citizens from voting. The day after Warren’s attempt, three male senators were able to read from King’s letter. The head of the Senate said that he asked Warren not to read the letter “yet she persists.” Women at the rally took turns reading the letter. Signs read “She persists,” “Coretta Scott King was right” and “No to Jeff Sessions for U.S. Attorney General.” (Photo provided)
