LAKE PLACID – The Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa was tabbed by USA Today travel editors and poll takers as the third best waterfront resort in the country.

The resort on the northwest end of Mirror Lake was selected in July by the paper’s travel editors as one of the 20 best waterfront properties in the country. From that initial list, a reader poll determined the “10Best” in that category, and the Mirror Lake Inn came in third.

The top vote-getter was the Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel in New York’s Finger Lakes region, followed by the Ritz-Carlton in Amelia Island, Florida.

“This is the kind of accolade that speaks volumes about our setting, our presentation and the level of service we offer,” Mirror Lake Inn owner Ed Weibrecht said in a press release. “To come out of the voting so highly ranked, among all those outstanding properties, is quite an achievement for us.

“What stands out to me is the fact that, yes, we have a terrific location overlooking Mirror Lake,” he continued. “But what our staff does to enhance that location with a stunning floral presentation and meticulous care of the grounds is really impressive.”
