Lake Placid library opens webcam window onto Mirror Lake

LAKE PLACID – A live glimpse that often includes swimmers, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards is now available on the Lake Placid Public Library’s website.

A webcam, dedicated to the memory of former library director Nancy Morelli, was recently installed at the back of the Main Street building. The view of the lake from the camera is similar to the view that the popular librarian had from her office.

Many donations from library supporters and friends of Morelli were received when she died two years ago in August 2014. Money donated in her memory was used to purchase the equipment, to professionally install it and for maintenance.

“It took a while to come up with an appropriate tribute to her memory that she would have liked,” library Trustee Peter Lynch said in a press release. “We think this is just the thing. It opens a view to people all over, especially those who are away and want a ‘Placid fix.'”

The webcam view is available by going to lakeplacidlibrary.org. A link is listed at the top of the homepage.

Starting at $3.92/week.
