DEC conducts turkey survey

The state Department of Environmental Conservation is asking the public to keep an eye out for turkeys and report what they see.

The DEC has been using citizen science to help monitor turkey populations since 1996 to determine the success of each year’s hatches.

In August, the public is asked to report the sex and age composition of any turkey flock that is seen during normal travel. Sightings can be reported online or by filling out a form and submitting it to the DEC.
