SARANAC LAKE – A local man faces assault and strangulation charges stemming from a domestic dispute that police say turned physical.

Eric D. Ryan, 46, of Saranac Lake, was arrested on a warrant issued by town of Harrietstown court at 2:53 p.m. Monday.

He allegedly assaulted a female victim at her home, in violation of an order of protection. The woman suffered unspecified injuries and sought medical attention as a result of the assault, police said.

Ryan was charged with aggravated criminal contempt, a felony, and two misdemeanors: second-degree strangulation and third-degree assault.

He was arraigned in town of Harrietstown court and remanded to the Franklin County Jail without bail.
